19th September 2018 signified an eventful and memorable day for DLG as it celebrated its inaugural Cultural Day with much excitement.

DLG Cultural Day was inspired by a lovely painting, currently located in our Bathoeng reception and themed “Celebration”. The painting was produced by a local artist, Mr Velias Ndaba. Hence, in the spirit of supporting local talent and Botswana’s looming Independence, the firm found it befitting to commemorate the lovely piece of local art by having a DLG Cultural Day.

The programme for the cultural day included welcome remarks from CEO of DLG, Mrs Caroline Desai, followed by a talk from Mr. Ndaba explaining how he came up with the outstanding piece of art and his gratitude to DLG for appreciating his artwork and recognizing local talent.

The event then moved forth to a Cultural Attire Fashion Contest partaken by some of the firm’s staff who showcased the diverse cultures within DLG. Judges were present at the contest including guest speaker Mr. Ndaba and where 3 selected contestants walked away with P1, 000 each, courtesy of Managing Partner, Mr. Rizwan Desai who also presented the cash prizes.

Another key element to the event was the 40th celebration of one of DLG’s partners, Mr. Akheel Jinabhai. That part of the programme was a surprise that included singing happy birthday with cake to Mr. Jinabhai in addition to a presentation of gifts from the DLG staff.

Finally, the event completed well with lunch consisting of various delectable traditional cuisines prepared and served by our very own Hospitality Coordinator, Ms. Limani Thapelo.

Everyone present thoroughly enjoyed the food and traditionally prepared ginger drink (also known in Setswana as Gemere) with fun and laughter, truly signifying an eventful and memorable “DLG Cultural Day”.
